  • Weather
  • Personal Issues

What if I am absent for a long period of time?
If a student misses three or more consecutive days, a note from a doctor is required.

Why is my absence unexcused?
A written note was not submitted within 5 days of student’s return to school and the absence was not approved by administration.

Why do I receive emails and voicemails regarding absences?

An automated RenWeb email and voice message is sent when an absence is recorded by the teacher.  The notifications are meant to notify you of absences and tardies as well as reminding you to send a written note to the attendance office.

Are there consequences for unexcused tardies?
Yes, four tardies in a term result in a Campus Beautification Project.  Five tardies result in a Saturday School assignment.  More than 5 tardies result in a parent conference and placing the student on an Attendance Contract.

Are there consequences for absences?
Based on the 90% attendance rule as mentioned in the student handbook, a student missing 4 ½ classes (excused or unexcused) is in danger of losing credit and may have to be place on an attendance contract.

What is the purpose of requesting an excuse for an absence?
Teachers are not required to allow students to make up work if absence is unexcused.
