Books + Music Playlists, October 2014
SACHS Library celebrated Teen Reads Week in October 2014 with a Listening Party. Many playlists were shared. People talked about books they read. Then told how they selected music to go with their books. The music sounds better with you, and in case you missed it, you can check out people’s playlists on the SACHS Library rdio page.
Banned Books Week, September 21 - 27, 2014
A Banned Books Book Reading happened on Wednesday September 25 in the library. Students and teachers read excerpts from banned books. A discussion followed the selections. People talked about the ways books present challenging and controversial issues. Books often say things that go unsaid and need to be talked about. The event was a powerful reminder of people's rights to read what they want.
Other students and staff participated in Banned Books Week all week long by taking their mugshot with a frequently challenenged book. I edited the pics using the VSO Cam app. Then GIFmaker.me helped create the animated GIFs. View the mugshots compiled as animated GIFs below.
