The Residential Life staff at St. Anthony prepares numerous weekend activities, adding team-building retreats, and community gatherings throughout the year for our students to live a complete and fulfilling experience outside of the classroom.

Local activities often include: bowling, attending the rodeo, Spurs Basketball games, ice hockey, Missions Baseball games, Fiesta events, local shopping at La Cantera, North Star Mall, and the Quarry Market, movies, and museums.

Community Activities have included trips to: Schlitterbahn, Fiesta Texas, San Marcos Shopping Outlets, UT Austin Campus Visit, Attending the Asian New Year Festival at the Institute of Texan Cultures, Attending concerts and plays produced by the high school and the university, and Aquarium or NASA in Houston.

Community Service is a requirement for St. Anthony Catholic High School to serve and give to others as part of their personal growth & development and graduation requirement. As a young adult we commit for our young residents to have a variety of neat experiences as they serve others within our San Antonio community by providing two service opportunities each month.

Some volunteering sites have been: Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner, Light the Way workdays, Ronald McDonald House, Haven for Hope, Retirement Centers just to name a few.

Weekends: In addition to these larger activities we also offer students the opportunity to take care of day-to-day matters or enjoy smaller, frequent trips to the mall, movie theaters, Wal-Mart/Target, Chinese/Korean/Mexican markets and other stores. On a monthly basis we rotate these weekend trips so our residents have to plan their shopping in advance.

Note: Transportation is provided in a fleet of vans, shuttle buses or our branded UIW school charter buses depending on the total counts of residents participating.

Being a member of the residential community provides many opportunities to have fun, learn, and serve others. Some activities are paid for by the school while other optional activities are paid by the resident. We always encourage our residents to attend school sponsored dances, athletic competitions, and other events.

Wellness Initiative: In an effort to emphasize the importance of balance and living a healthy life style, residents are required to either participate in an athletic sport for St. Anthony or if they choose not to be involved in sports to maintain a healthy exercising weekly schedule. The expectation is for the resident who is not participating in an athletic sport, to exercise for a minimum of 4 times a week for 45 minutes or more. Residents are monitored through a “stamping of a monthly calendar” and submitting it to the Coordinator at the end of each month for verification. Residents who do not comply with this requirement will need to participate in community service hours that do not count towards their school requirement as a way of being physically active by helping the UIW/St. Anthony campus beautification.
