A Day in the Life

Weekday Schedule

Life of a Jacket:

5 am-7 am

Sometimes, a Jacket may be in need of transportation before school due to academic or athletic individual responsibilities. The drives are pre-arranged with the Residence Life Coordinator for our residents ahead of time.

7 a.m.-7:30a.m.

On a regular basis, the boys and girls must wake up. A Resident Assistant ensures both girls and boys are awake, getting ready for school.


In the event one of the he/she feel’s sick, the resident is required to dress in full uniform and be ready for the coordinator to take the resident to the UIW Health Services office to be checked.

7: 40 a.m.

All residents leave the Residence Hall to begin their day at St. Anthony.  A shuttle from the University of the Incarnate Word will pick the residents up and take them to school every morning.

8-3:00 p.m.

Jackets are in school all day! (They are not allowed to return to the residence hall during the school hours unless he/she is sick).

3-4:00 p.m.

The residents get out of school by 3 p.m. The boys & girls have 1 hour at school to take care of tutoring with a teacher, a club/organization meeting at school all before the UIW shuttle will pick residents and transport them back to the Residence Hall at 4pm. (Note: If a resident has practice afternoon after 4pm, the Residential Life staff will pick up the resident according to their practice schedule).  

4-6:45 p.m.

Afternoon Check-In/Resident Free Time & Activities to include going and getting dinner at the university campus/eating in the residence hall or being transported to specific requests based on the individual needs of each resident.

6:45 p.m.

Send all the corresponding boys or girls to the Learning Community Tutoring Classroom. Residents in the classroom must be ready to begin their tutoring session at 7pm sharp.

**Note: Sometimes if no tutors are available, study hours for specific residents will be conducted/monitored in the kitchen of the respective hall by the RA on-duty. No IM, Facebook, or YouTube.

7-9 p.m.

Quiet Hours begin and are in effect until 9pm (All residents must be in their respective rooms studying, sleeping or relaxing if the resident is not in the Learning Community Tutoring Program).**This means no disruptions in the hall, no cooking (a snack is allowed but no cooking in the kitchen).

If an emergency comes up or something important that requires assistance, the administrator on-call is contacted immediately.

9-10:30 p.m.


Quiet hours are lifted to direct the young boys or girls to prepare for school the next day (Iron uniform, shower, change into pajamas, relax etc.).

9:30 p.m. The Resident Assistant on-duty conducts chores for the evening with the Leader Group of 3-4 boys or girls assigned for the evening. Tasks are evenly distributed which include: sweeping, clearing and wiping down counters, clean and remove dishes from kitchen sink, clean  microwave ovens, wipe down stove top and tables and take trash out of kitchen and down to the dumpster*.

11 p.m.

Alarm all main entrance doors, lock lounge, study room and kitchen windows and door.  Girls and boys are not to leave their rooms or floors from this point on. Complete a head count and ensure that all residents are in their rooms. Turn off hallway lights. Administrator on call is contacted for emergencies (medical, safety or serious policy violations regarding any resident).
